Entertainment
Get ready to tap your feet and swing your hips to the sweet sound of Johnny Martin. With blue eyes and bold emotion, Johnny Martin will take the hit songs of the past and make them swing like new. Mr. Martin is a vocalist in the spirit of Frank Sinatra and the energy of Louis Prima. Johnny Martin's voice and style are nearly identical with Frank Sinatra, and his band including the sensational Karla Harris, add that fun swingin' sound.
After Party
The After Party is automatically included with an event ticket purchase of $250 or more. Tickets to the After Party can be purchased separately for those not attending the main Hope Ball event. Tickets are $40 at the door or online and include swingin' entertainment plus drinks at the open bar.

Special Appeal Paddle Raise
During the Hope Ball live auction, guests have a special opportunity to make a direct, tax-deductible contribution to the American Cancer Society's Camp Ukandu during the Special Appeal Paddle Raise.
In 2011, the American Cancer Society Hope Ball raised $61,250 to send children with cancer to Camp Ukandu. This year we hope to raise $75,000 so we can send even more children with cancer to camp.
Camp Ukandu
Thanks to the generous donations from individuals and organizations, Camp Ukandu is without charge to children currently undergoing cancer treatments or who are within two years of their last treatment. One sibling of each patient is also invited to attend camp. All the staff at Camp Ukandu are volunteers, including full-time medical staff and camp counselors. There is a ratio of three campers to one counselor; this provides an integral and necessary bonding experience. Often volunteers are pediatric cancer survivors themselves – a living testimony to the value and quality of the camping experience.
Even though there is no direct cost for the physicians, nurses, health care professionals and lay volunteers, there remains an approximate cost of $1,200 to support a child for a week of camp.
About American Cancer Society Hope Ball
The Portland Hope Ball is the American Cancer Society’s annual fundraiser, and gives Portlanders the opportunity to participate in the fight against cancer while enjoying a spectacular evening of great food, drink, auctions, and events.
All proceeds raised through the Portland Hope Ball support the Society’s mission of funding cancer research, education, and support programs. This research has led to life-saving information and the development of state-of-the-art technology. Hope Ball proceeds also support the Society’s education efforts – which bring more awareness to cancer in our community – and support services that provide patients, survivors and their families with a better quality of life.
The American Cancer Society hopes to raise $300,000 at the Portland Hope Ball for local cancer research, $75,000 of which directly supports Camp Ukandu.
